BREAKING: Last Generation Canada supporters remove 13 oil and gas ads in Ottawa, replace them with the truth

We have removed a total of 13 oil and gas advertisements and replaced them with the truth.

These large posters advertising oil and so called “natural gas” say things like “As long as we need oil and gas it might as well be Canadian” or “ We need pipelines for a strong economy.” These outrageous lies are concentrated downtown, near the parliament and we will not stand by while these major companies spew lies and mislead the public.

These types of advertisements have been banned from Montreal and Toronto public transit for misinformation. In Ottawa, we are still plagued by them, despite numerous legal attempts to get them removed.

We have taken matters into our own hands, because legal measures have failed to address this problem. Legal measures have proven ineffective time and time again when trying to get justice in the face of the climate crisis. This is why we engage in civil disobedience.

We have estimated that each poster we replaced has cost Pathways Alliance between $1,600-$1,800. Pathways Alliance is a coalition of the largest 6 oil and gas companies in Canada. Their mission is to promote greenwashing, lobbying and carbon capture as a viable solution to the climate crisis all the while ignoring the fact that they are the ones responsible.

This replacement process has been smooth to date and we will keep removing these ridiculous ads. There is nothing more disgusting than the industry that is actively killing Canadians arguing that they need to make more profits at the cost of the environment and all our lives.
